LinkedIn employee loses job after 3 years of service, says she will miss coffee chats with colleagues
Roughly about a month ago, it was being reported that the tech layoffs wave might finally be over as companies had stopped announcing large-scale layoffs. However, recent developments point out that this isn't the case. Job search portal LinkedIn announced firing 668 employees recently and the move left many surprised. Just recently, Nokia also announced firing up to 14,000 people.LinkedIn is, once again, full of posts about people being laid off, looking for new opportunities. A former Linkedin employee also shared a note on being laid off. saying that she will miss her coffee chats with colleagues. The woman had been working with LinkedIn for three years but lost her job as part of the recent layoffs. read more

Isro prefers woman fighter test pilots for its manned mission, says S Somanath
Isro prefers woman fighter test pilots or female scientists for its much-awaited human space flight programme, the Gaganyaan mission, and it is possible to send them in the future, space agency chief S Somanath said on Sunday.
He also said Isro would send a female humanoid - a robot that resembles a human - in its unmanned Gaganyaan spacecraft next year. The ambitious mission aims to send humans into space on a Low Earth Orbit of 400 km for three days and bring them safely back to Earth. read more

Chinese yuan beats Euro, is 2nd most used currency in global payments system SWIFT
The Chinese yuan has surpassed the euro to become the world's second-most used currency in SWIFT trade settlements, according to data from the international SWIFT system. This marks a significant milestone in China's efforts to internationalise its currency.
As of September 2023, the yuan accounted for 5.8% of international payments, up from 4.82% in August. This is the highest share the yuan has held in the last five years. Despite this increase, the US dollar remains the dominant currency in global trade, with an 84.15% share in September, a slight increase from 83.95% in August. read more
